Bri McDaniel was sprawled on the court and writhing in pain as the horn sounded and Xfinity Center fell silent. The Maryland sophomore had attacked the basket and hit a buzzer-beater to close the first quarter with her 11th and 12th points of the afternoon, but after taking a hard fall, she needed the trainers’ help to leave the court.
That was just about all that slowed down McDaniel on Saturday; she limped to the locker room but returned not long after. As the Terps posted a 90-82 victory over Illinois, McDaniel finished with 22 points for her fourth straight game in double digits — a first in her college career.
