Maryland women’s basketball sophomore Ashley Owusu has been named the best shooting guard in the country, winning the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Friday night.
This season, Owusu led the nation’s top scoring offense averaging 17.9 points per game. Her 171 assists (5.9 per game) rank fourth in the nation and led the team by a 75 assist margin. The sophomore guard shot 49.3% from the field and 76.2% from the charity stripe. She also averaged 5.6 rebounds per game.
As a freshman, the Woodbridge, Virginia, native was on the watch list for this honor. During that 2019-20 season, the guard was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was the Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Player.
