Hemby broke loose for a 40-yard gain, igniting the crowd at SECU Stadium. He would add an eight-yard reception and a six-yard run to move the Terrapins to the 32. Six plays later, Maryland went ahead to stay on a one-yard quarterback sneak.

Hemby was far from done, amassing 161 of his 217 total yards in the second half to help Maryland pull away for a 38-20 win and transition with relative calm into a short week of preparation. Maryland (2-0) faces Virginia (0-2) on Friday night in College Park, renewing a once-heated border rivalry that had been dormant since 2013, the Terrapins’ last season in the ACC before they departed for the Big Ten.
