Maryland's game was messy, but the Terps' talent came through in crunch time.
Maryland fans were expecting coach Mark Turgeon to go deep in his bench Friday night, as the Terrapins were 20-point favorites against Rider. That didn't quite happen, as Maryland needed all 40 minutes to put away a pesky Broncs team.
It was difficult to pinpoint one area that went awry for Maryland. Instead it was a bit of everything. The Terps were again able showcase their depth, earning contributions all around as Jake Layman double-doubled with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Melo Trimble had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
