Former Maryland guard Melo Trimble has agreed to play with the Philadelphia 76ers summer league team after going undrafted in Thursday night’s NBA draft, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
On a night when fellow Upper Marlboro native Markelle Fultz was selected first overall by Philadelphia, Trimble didn’t hear his name called among the 60 selections on Thursday – but he nonetheless found summer work with the 76ers less than three weeks after working out for the organization.
That next step in Trimble’s young professional career comes after a long-winding process this spring, when he moved to Las Vegas to train, endured an unmemorable showing at the combine in Chicago and reportedly stood out in a number of individual workouts with teams in recent weeks.
