5 takeaways from Maryland’s open scrimmage

Maryland wrapped up its second week of fall camp with an open scrimmage at Byrd Stadium on Saturday, and it will enter the final week of August with plenty of major decisions to make at a number of positions. Here’s five takeaways from Saturday’s session.

Maryland Coach Randy Edsall and his staff will evaluate the scrimmage film on Sunday, although he didn’t provide any clarity on when a decision on his starting quarterback may be coming. While many have believed Caleb Rowe and Daxx Garman to be the front runners to win the job prior to camp, Edsall said junior Perry Hills has been the most effective player through the first two weeks of training camp and earned a bulk of the first team reps on Saturday.
