Four University of Maryland players were selected on the final day of the MLB Draft Wednesday, giving the school a record eight players drafted this year and headlining a sizable crop of players with state ties to be selected.
Terps third baseman Jose Cuas was the first of his teammates to be selected Wednesday, going in the 11th round to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Closer Kevin Mooney (North Harford) went in the fifteenth round to the Nationals, the Houston Astros selected catcher Kevin Martir, in the 18th round, and Maryland left-hander Zach Morris went in the 24th round to the Philadelphia Phillies.
