Lanay Montgomery scored 13 points and hauled down 12 rebounds as West Virginia used its size to outmuscle Marshall, 66-60, Sunday in the women’s Capital Classic at the Civic Center.
The 6-foot-5 Montgomery also blocked three shots before sitting down for nearly all of the fourth quarter. Still, the Herd didn’t score another field goal until there was 3:35 left.
WVU’s big basket was a Tynice Martin 3-pointer which gave it a 57-49 lead. The Herd never got closer than five points.
It was the Mountaineers’ 11th in a row in the series, which they lead 39-16.
