Marshall University’s golf team finished sixth Tuesday in the 11th annual Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Maryland.
Princeton University won the 10-team tournament by 13 strokes at 939. Georgetown University, the tournament host, finished second at 952.
Freshman Joey Walz carded the best finish of her Marshall career, shooting a 239 to finish eighth in the tournament.
Marshall head coach Tiffany Prats said she was proud of the freshman’s performance.
“I’m happy that Joey got her first top-10 finish,” Prats said in a news release. “Today, the conditions were really rough, being cold and windy on a course that didn’t allow for many low scores.
