HUNTINGTON — Marshall football had waited for what seemed like an eternity to open, although the number of practices was equal to every other team in the nation, finishing camp with only a few double-days of practices and three weeks of practices while Marshall University started the fall semester in the latest opener at Marshall since 1981.
All in all, Morgan State of the MEAC probably wishes they could have some more time to get ready for a Herd team (or not play at all). Against a Marshall that came out of the gate fast and never looked back in scoring on six touchdowns passes in the first half – along with a new Marshall record fumble return for a touchdown – in putting up a 49-0 halftime lead on the way to a 62-0 rout of the Bears (0-2) in the Herd’s opening game of the season.
