BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Different venue, same result: Herd falls to UAB in a close game, with Marshall players and coaches left fuming over officiating and numerous monitor reviews. Last time, the Thundering Herd lost by three at home and this time, Marshall loses by four at UAB.
UAB outrebounded the Herd, hit 11-of-24 from three and got to the line twice as often as Marshall as the Herd loses another close one to the Conference USA leader, 95-91, at Bartow Arena in Birmingham.
The Herd saw fouls go 7-4 against UAB in the first half, a half that ended with the score tied 49-49, but in the second half Marshall was tagged with 14 fouls while the Blazers were called for just seven in the half, resulting in UAB going 17-of-24 in the second half from the line and 22-of-30 for the game (73.
