HUNTINGTON — Marshall was in the black in more ways than one Sunday afternoon at the Cam Henderson Center.
Combining marksmanship with the kind of ball movement Coach Dan D’Antoni wants in his self-named “organized chaos” attack at both ends of the floor, the Herd opened its Conference USA men’s basketball season with a 94-76 blistering of visiting Western Kentucky.
Wearing black uniforms – a surprise to Herd players until just prior to tipoff — for the first time in nearly 14 years Marshall had far too many positive numbers for the Hilltoppers (8-6, 0-1 C-USA), who shot 55 percent and won the rebounding battle … but it didn’t matter.
