Marshall University’s volleyball team took second place at the West Virginia Capital Classic Saturday at the Charleston Civic Center.
The Herd dropped a five-set decision to Indiana State in the championship round by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 8-15. Indiana State finished the tournament with a 2-1 record and took the title by tiebreaker.
The Herd held a 12-5 lead in the fourth set, but the Sycamores rallied to take the set.
West Virginia earned third place in the tournament with a five-set win over Morehead State. The Mountaineers rallied from two sets down to earn the 3-2 win
