HUNTINGTON — There is no place like home, said Dorothy Gale in “The Wizard of Oz.” That is true this weekend for the Marshall women’s softball team who hope to blow the UAB Blazers back to Kan…er, Alabama and to clinch the No. 1 seed for the upcoming C-USA Championships in Hattiesburg, Miss. For Marshall, it is never better than Senior Day and finishing the last weekend of the season spent among fans and friends at “The Dot” on Herd Avenue in America’s Best Community for 2017, Huntington, West “by God” Virginia.
Now the 23rd-ranked Marshall softball team in the nation, Marshall wraps up the regular season at Dot Hicks Field on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, in a three-game series with the UAB Blazers (20-30, 11-10 in conference and second in the West Division).
