HUNTINGTON — Back before Thanksgiving, Middle Tennessee turned more than a few heads by taking a 29-point lead on Mississippi at the half, coasting to a 15-point victory.
Saturday night at Cam Henderson Center, the Blue Raiders did pretty much the same thing to Marshall, jumping out to a 39-13 lead in the first 13 1/2 minutes. The Thundering Herd did enough in the second half to keep the season-high crowd of 7,620 interested, but still lost 97-86.
“That’s about as good a first half [as in the Ole Miss game],” said MTSU coach Kermit Davis. “We knew Marshall would make a great run.
