HUNTINGTON — Crying is frowned upon among college football players in that temple of machismo, the weight room.
But on Tuesday, an exception was carved out for Marshall’s Clint Van Horn, that mountain of a right tackle.
It happened at about 11:30 that morning, when a Bill Timpano from the compliance office visited the weight room. Timpano’s message was positive.
Extremely positive: The NCAA granted Van Horn, the Beckley native, a sixth year of eligibility.
Van Horn didn’t tell his teammates in the room. They only needed to see this grown man cry.
“[Michael] Birdsong, [Blake] Keller, [Ryan] Hurachek, Fred Binot, Sandley [Jean-Felix], those type of guys were there,” Van Horn said.
