HUNTINGTON — With four orange and white poles surrounding the free-throw line, Marshall basketball player Austin Loop can break down your shooting mechanics.
As accomplished a shooter he is, he can probably spot a problem from the rafters of Cam Henderson Center. But as a major-league academic exercise, he is going to break down shots much, much closer.
Down to the centimeter, maybe millimeter. Hands, elbows, motions, anything that goes into propelling a basketball toward the rim. Loop will examine his teammates’ shooting style in a way few, if any, coaches ever have.
If all goes well, he’ll write about those results — and maybe help his teammates out at tournament time.
