Marshall women walloped at WKU, 81-52

HUNTINGTON — The 10-1 Thundering Herd traveled to open Conference USA play at 9-2 WKU, the defending C-USA regular season and tournament champions last season. Something had to give, but unfortunately for Marshall is was both a failing on offense and defense as the Hilltoppers raced to a 81-52 win at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky.

WKU improves to 10-2, 1-0 in C-USA with its seventh win in a row, while Marshall loses for the first time in five games, falling to 10-2, 0-1 in Conference USA but is still the best start since the 1986-87 Herd opened that season 11-1 under then head coach Judy Southard on the way to winning the then “Lady Herd’s” third Southern Conference regular season crown of five in a row (1985-89).
