HUNTINGTON — Dan D’Antoni remembers his playing days at Marshall years ago, participating in an “iron five” lineup.
The concept was simple: The starting five played close to the entire game, with few substitutions except for foul trouble. Keep in mind this was done in a run-and-gun offense with none of today’s TV timeouts.
D’Antoni’s second season as the Thundering Herd’s coach has featured some of that, as seen in MU’s 82-76 win Wednesday over Eastern Illinois at Cam Henderson Center.
James Kelly, Stevie Browning, Ryan Taylor, Austin Loop and C.J. Burks all played 31 or more minutes.
