HUNTINGTON — You don’t need a dictionary to look up the word “squander.” All you need is to examine Marshall’s 27-24 loss Saturday night to Charlotte.
The Thundering Herd all but lived in Charlotte territory in the second half, running 23 out of 34 official scrimmage snaps on the 49ers’ side of the field.
And what did the Herd have to show for it? Nada.
Not only did MU not score in the second half before a crowd of 20,904, it found creative ways to squander all five second-half possessions.
It started with a fumble across the goal line for a touchback and ended with a missed 40-yard field goal.
