HUNTINGTON – Marshall women’s soccer signee Mary Lawman has been named the Gatorade West Virginia Girls Soccer Player of the Year, as announced Monday morning. The 5-foot-10 senior midfielder and forward led the Winfield (W.Va.) Generals to a 22-2 record and the Class AA/A State Championship this past season.
“She’s aggressive and plays with a fierceness. She’s stellar in everything she does and I think that comes from her competitive spirit,” Marshall Women’s Soccer Head Coach Kevin Long said when the Herd signed Lawman. “We think that competitiveness will elevate our training and games right away.
