The position of running backs coach at Marshall has opened, and a source told the Gazette-Mail that the coach that held the job, Chris Barclay, has been let go.
An MU official did not confirm the vacancy Monday.
Barclay worked for the Herd the last two years, and the running game produced nice results in a 23-4 run.
In 2014, he handled the transition of Devon Johnson to the backfield, a move that hit the jackpot. Johnson rushed for 1,767 yards and 17 touchdowns, and scored twice more receiving.
But Barclay may have had a bigger challenge in 2015, as Johnson missed six games with an injury.
