HUNTINGTON — Five Marshall players scored in double figures as the Thundering Herd continued its dominance at Cam Henderson Center, pasting Middle Tennessee 82-66 on Thursday.
The result breaks a second-place tie in Conference USA, pending unbeaten-in-league Alabama-Birmingham’s game at Western Kentucky. Marshall (11-10, 7-1) has already equaled the number of overall and conference wins it had last year in going 11-21, 7-11.
Stevie Browning led the Herd with 15 points, followed by Ryan Taylor with 14, Jon Elmore and C.J. Burks 12 each and James Kelly 11.
The Herd took a 37-28 halftime lead and jumped on the Blue Raiders (14-6, 6-2) from the opening possession of the second half.
