HUNTINGTON — The first thing to know about Marshall’s conference tournament opener with Florida Atlantic is this: The teams played a long time ago.
Try Jan. 2, in the second Conference USA game for both squads. Since then, the teams have played 16 games over nine weeks.
So when Thundering Herd players and coaches watched the video of their 89-72 win over the Owls in Boca Raton, they weren’t just going over mistakes and schemes. They were reminding themselves who those guys are.
Then again, the Owls likely were doing the same thing.
“Terrence [Thompson] wasn’t playing,” said MU coach Dan D’Antoni.
