ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Devon Johnson knew he wasn’t going to be the “Rock” star he has been in his year and a half as a Marshall running back, but he wanted one last game to savor.
Thundering Herd fans at the St. Petersburg Bowl got a pleasant surprise Saturday as “Rockhead” donned his No. 47 and took his place in the backfield. After rushing for more than 1,700 yards last season, he missed six of the Herd’s 12 regular-season game with injuries.
His contribution to Marshall’s 16-10 win over Connecticut was modest: 10 rushes, 38 yards, long of 9.
