If Marshall needed a jolt heading into its 4 p.m. game Saturday at Eastern Kentucky, consider the Colonels’ last game, a thumping of Western Kentucky.
WKU is one of Marshall’s biggest Conference USA rivals and was picked to finish third by in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Colonels snapped the Hilltoppers’ 13-game winning streak in the all-time series.
With that, the Thundering Herd brings its 5-1 record into 6,500-seat McBrayer Arena in Richmond, Kentucky, to take on the Colonels (4-4). The game is a rematch of Marshall’s 96-72 romp over EKU last Dec. 12, the first indication that the Herd offense was going to click in a big way.
