Marshall men still sore about last season’s UTEP loss

HUNTINGTON — Most losses are eventually put in the rear-view mirror, eventually banished to the recesses of memory. Others linger longer, like a stubborn stomach bug.

Such was the case a season ago with Marshall’s 112-108 setback at Texas-El Paso. Even knocking out the Miners at the Conference USA tournament couldn’t rid the Thundering Herd of that bad taste.

“We owe them some revenge,” said Herd point guard Jon Elmore. “We were up, I think, 20 points down there in Texas, and they come back, ended up beating us. It really hurt us; some of the guys are still thinking about that game so we’ll be ready for them when they come back here.
