HUNTINGTON — On a sun-splashed day with about 100 Herd fans soaking up both sunshine and Herd football at Saturday’s scrimmage, the Marshall University defense did most of the talking when it came to big plays in the first scrimmage of spring football.
While the offense did eventually score five times when the line of scrimmage was in the “score zone” as Head Coach Doc Holliday calls the 20-yard line in, the defense came up with an interception on the fourth play from scrimmage, forced two fumbles, had eight tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, broke up 13 passes and didn’t allow a running back to score.
