Marshall football coach Doc Holliday yells instructions to his players during the Thundering Herd’s Oct. 15 win against Florida Atlantic.
HUNTINGTON — With Saturday’s game being closest to Nov. 14, Doc Holliday expects the ultimate effort from his struggling Marshall team.
The 14th, as every Marshall coach, player and just about every fan knows, is the anniversary of the 1970 plane crash. This season, the team is wearing black jerseys and special helmets paying tribute to both the 75 victims and the 1971 Young Thundering Herd.
Herd players are expected to put the troubles of their 2-7 season aside and honor the ’70 and ’71 teams with their best game of the season.
