HUNTINGTON — In the baseball movie, “Bull Durham,” Tim Robbins plays a young pitcher with a ton of potential if Kevin Costner’s world-weary catcher “Crash” Davis can get him focused to use his talent. In the team bus during a winning streak, pitcher Ebby Calvin “Nuke” Laloosh hops in the seat beside Costner and says, “I love winning, man, I … love winning — it’s like better than losing.”
The Thundering Herd of Marshall may have had some players saying it in a somewhat different manner, but after four losses in a row — the first time in the 7-year tenure of head coach Doc Holliday — the Herd was happy to get any win, any way, especially against a Florida Atlantic team that has given the Herd past problems in the matchup of the Owls and Marshall.
