Marshall falls at UAB, 95-91

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama-Birmingham completed a hard-fought season sweep over Marshall with a 95-91 victory Thursday night at Bartow Arena.

The Blazers (23-5, 13-2) took a two-game lead over the Thundering Herd (15-13, 11-4) atop the Conference USA standings. The Herd remains a game ahead of Middle Tennessee, and those two teams play in Murfreesboro on Saturday.

Dirk Williams’ 3-point goal with about a minute left gave the Blazers an 89-85 lead, and the Herd couldn’t tie it in the final minute. With the score 91-89, MU’s Ryan Taylor intentionally missed a free throw, but a teammate stepped on the end line in corralling the rbound.
