Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino returns to coach a game in Huntington on Saturday for the first time since 1987 when he was an assistant coach at Weber State.
It has been nearly three decades, but Bobby Petrino has coached in a game in Huntington.
Not many Marshall fans know that the current Louisville coach was a member of Mike Price’s staff at Weber State from 1987-88 as the wide receivers/tight ends coach.
That put him at Fairfield Stadium on Dec. 5, 1987, where the Herd won with a blizzard of sacks and interceptions, 51-23.
“You know, the last time I was there, and it was a long, long time ago, it was the second round of the I-AA playoffs,” Petrino said Monday at his weekly press conference.
