Louisiana Tech dominated the Conference USA football individual awards, taking four of the honors.
Quarterback Ryan Higgins was named the most valuable player, and Skip Holtz was selected coach of the year for the second time in three years. Higgins has thrown for 4,208 yards and 37 touchdowns for the West Division champions.
In a league first, Tech’s Carlos Henderson was named both offensive and special teams player of the year. The reason was simple — he caught 72 passes for 1,406 yards with 17 TDs, ran for two more and took two kickoffs back.
Florida Atlantic end Trey Hendrickson was named the top defensive player, and Texas-San Antonio linebacker Josiah Tauaefa is the freshman of the year.
