HUNTINGTON — On the night Austin Loop set the career record for 3-pointers by a Marshall player, his teammates would make only one other three for the game — so you can probably guess how the Herd ended up in the Cam Henderson Center last night. Loop, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from South Webster, Ohio, made his 252nd career 3-pointer with 1:38 on the first half clock, but that scoreboard later read for UTEP winning, 91-68, a first home loss by Marshall this season and the first road win of the year for the Miners.
Loop tied the record of 251 career 3-pointers early in the game, then passed a record that had stood at MU for 15 years by former Herd great Tamar Slay (251 threes, 1998-2002).
