Logan freshman Gore off to great start for Marshall women

HUNTINGTON — The stats say she’s a grownup in the world of women’s college basketball, but Shayna Gore knows better.

“I’m just a baby right now,” the Logan native said Saturday. “I’m the youngest one on the team.”

She is indeed the youngest, having just turned 18 in September. But she’s not sitting at the end of the bench — she doesn’t start, yet she plays 25.8 minutes per game for the 6-0 Thundering Herd.

And she’s Marshall’s second-leading scorer at 16.0 points per game. She’s the top 3-point shooter by attempts (38) and makes (13), she’s second in shooting from any distance (56.
