Hot-shooting second half carries UAB past Marshall 94-78

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — William Lee scored 22 points with a career-high 17 rebounds as Alabama-Birmingham downed Marshall 94-78 Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena.

The Blazers (11-7, 4-1), who also struggled in the first half, shot 67.7 percent in the second half to finish at 53.2 percent to Marshall’s 37.7 percent.

The result saddled the Thundering Herd (11-8, 4-2) with another loss in what has become Conference USA’s most difficult road trip. The Herd, which lost 69-57 Thursday at Middle Tennessee, lost to UAB for the eighth consecutive time.

Marshall hung around in the first half despite a brutal 2-of-17 shooting start, trailing 34-31 at the half.
