HUNTINGTON — The old saying is even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then. But it has been so long since Marshall’s men’s team had beaten the Blazers of UAB in the Cam Henderson Center, The Herd is on a third head coach since then. Donnie Jones beat UAB in the Henderson Center back on Jan. 19, 2008, and until tonight Jones over his next two seasons, Tom Herrion in four seasons and Danny D’Antoni in his third season had not beaten the Blazers — until tonight.
Marshall was led by 25 points from junior point guard Jon Elmore, a first career double-double by sophomore forward Adjin Penava and Ryan Taylor tossing in 17 points and seven rebounds to stop the losing streak against UAB with a 74-59 Marshall win.
