HUNTINGTON — Marshall scored a 25-9 win over Middle Tennessee during the second game of the series with the Blue Raiders, winning on 15-or-more run rule in seven innings in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader (also winning the final game, 6-5, and the opener, 11-1, to sweep Middle and earn a fifth road series win in C-USA play this year).
Marshall first topped 20 runs in its second documented season in 1899, and has now scored over 20 runs in a game 36 times in school history. In those games, Marshall is 35-1.
Saturday was the 11th time the Herd has scored 20+ runs in a conference game, and the fourth time the Herd has done it in a Conference USA contest.
