HUNTINGTON – What is it about playing in Tennessee that is so tough for Thundering Herd teams? The Herd football program is 0-2 at Murfreesboro since Middle joined Conference USA, the Herd was only 7-13 against Chattanooga in football (only 2-8 at Chamber-of horrors-lain Field), MU was only 2-2 at Memphis, winning its last game there 23-22 in 2011 and the Herd was 0-2 at Tennessee, plus had that Stan Hill knee injury celebrating a score against the Vols that might had given the Herd the upset without in 2003.
Basketball hasn’t been any better. The men’s programs is 2-13 all-time against Memphis, and 0-8 in “Tigers Town”; UT leads the all-time series with Herd Hoops 7-3, and in nine games in Knoxville against the Vols, the Herd’s two wins came in 1938 and 1940; and Herd is 29-19 against the Mocs in hoops, 5-16 in McClellan Gym/Round House since 1977, including a 96-85 loss earlier this season.
