With strong pitching and late-inning clutch hits, Marshall’s baseball team enters Conference USA play on an 8-1 streak.
That may or may not help the Thundering Herd (9-6) in a league that’s feisty enough to keep a team or two in the national rankings, but it can’t hurt.
Whatever the case, the Herd begins its 30-game league season this weekend in Appalachian Power Park, its second home, with Southern Mississippi coming to town.
First pitch Friday is 6 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Admission is $7, and gates open 90 minutes in advance.
