CHARLESTON, W.Va. – They were picked 12th of 12 teams in the preseason, the program had not made the Conference USA Tournament since 2010 and had not had a winning season since 1994.
All of that seems a millions miles ago for the Thundering Herd baseball team at Marshall University, as the Herd has extended its record-breaking season with the 11th win in a row in C-USA play, beating Old Dominion 4-3 on Friday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.
The Herd (32-18, 21-8) came in to the day tied with Southern Miss for first place in C-USA, and took a half-game lead on the Golden Eagles, who play at FIU tonight.
