HUNTINGTON — In its attempt to preserve a spotless start to its Conference USA season, Marshall faces its first legitimate threat at the rim tonight.
Sure, the Herd has faced 7-footers in wins over Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic, but neither proved nearly as dangerous as Florida International’s Adrian Diaz.
The 6-foot-11 Diaz and the Panthers will enter the Cam Henderson Center for the 7 p.m. contest against the Thundering Herd. The Panthers (8-7, 2-0) also are unbeaten in the league after upending Western Kentucky 75-72 on Thursday.
Diaz, a former Kansas State reserve, is the first preseason all-conference selection to face the Herd this season.
