It was a baseball game packed with gaffes, coming from the hands of both West Virginia University and Marshall, but one of the Thundering Herd’s blunders ended up giving the Mountaineers a comeback win.
When Herd left fielder D.J. Gee couldn’t pick up Ivan Vera’s single from the Appalachian Power Park grass, it allowed Braden Zarbnisky to score in the top of the 10th, which gave WVU a 5-4 victory Tuesday night against Marshall.
That error was one of eight in the game, four from each team.
Vera didn’t have time to celebrate what would be the winning run.
