BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Marshall hit only two home runs on Sunday, but that was enough offense along with JD Hammer’s fourth win as he continues to return from injury and Burris Warner’s ninth save gave the Thundering Herd a 5-2 win on Sunday at Nike Denes Stadium. It is Marshall’s third sweep of a Conference USA series, the ninth win in a row and the 12th win in 13 games for the Herd.
Marshall ties a streak set by the 1988 Herd team that won nine in a row to open the season with a ninth win and the 1916 team also had a nine-game winning streak.
