Marshall University baseball won its three-game series with conference foe Florida International University 3-2 over the weekend.
Although the Herd dropped its opening game Thursday 10-5, the team rallied to win the next two contests, 5-4 and 6-5, respectively.
The Herd (13-9, 3-3) had some late-inning fireworks go in its favor in Saturday’s rubber match when second baseman DJ Gee knocked in the go-ahead RBI with a single to right field in the top of the eighth inning.
Gee’s clutch hitting, however, was made possible by a Herd rally as the team quickly fell into a 3-0 hole in the bottom of the first inning.
