Five sign midyear letters of intent with Marshall football

As expected, Marshall’s aggressive recruiting of junior-college players paid off at the beginning of the midyear signing period, as five prospects submitted their letters of intent Wednesday.

The quintet included an 11th-hour commitment, linebacker Donyae Moody from Hartnell College in Salinas, California. The 6-foot-2 native of Baltimore is the 49th-ranked juco player at any position by Scout.com.

247Sports reported that the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Moody had offers from Mississippi, East Carolina and Texas-El Paso, among others. Scout says he had 90 tackles, eight sacks and two forced fumbles, and he was was named first-team all-conference.

Two other Californians rated with three stars by Rivals also signed — linebacker Artis Johnson of Reedley College near Fresno and tight end Armani Levias of Laney College in Oakland.
