HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s game Thursday night with Louisiana Tech isn’t a postseason game, but it should have a tournament feel to it.
It’s March and three teams are tied for second place in the Conference USA standings. They are two of four teams battling for the three remaining byes to the league tourney quarterfinals, with the winner Thursday clinching a spot with a game to spare.
Middle Tennessee joins MU and Tech at 11-5 in the conference, with Old Dominion a game back at 10-6. Even with a loss Thursday night, the Herd (15-14 overall, 11-5) will clinch a bye with a win Saturday against Southern Mississippi.
