CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The warning was clear: Charlotte plays much like Marshall and had lost some close games to Conference USA’s best teams.
On Thursday night, the 49ers lived up to that billing, delivering the first knockout to Marshall in the C-USA season, and it wasn’t close. For most of the second half, the 49ers owned a double-digit lead and won 103-95.
The Thundering Herd (9-10, 5-1 C-USA) saw its five-game winning streak halted by the red-hot 49ers (5-13, 2-4), who almost couldn’t miss before 4,015 at Halton Arena.
Andrien White was the deadliest shooter, hitting his first seven 3-point attempts in scoring 30 points.
