The annual Capital Classic at the Charleston Civic Center has rarely been the platform to showcase 3-point shooting. But the game’s participants, No. 20 West Virginia (8-1) and Marshall (3-6), bring a little long-range momentum into tonight’s game (7 p.m., ESPNU).
The Mountaineers are coming off a season-high in 3-pointers made (15) and attempted (36) in Sunday’s 100-58 win against Louisiana-Monroe. That was one game after WVU finished 2 for 14 from 3-point range in a 14-point loss to Virginia at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 8.
“There’s a direct correlation between putting time in and working in the right fashion and being successful doing those things,” West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said.
