This time last football season, Marshall University linebacker Tavante Beckett was sidelined, sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules.
This season, the redshirt junior leads the team in tackles with 91 and will be a captain on Saturday against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
“When you have to sit out, you come back, and you have a little different attitude about you,” Head Coach Doc Holliday said. “He found out how much he missed football; how important it was to him.”
After deciding to transfer from Virginia Tech, Beckett arrived at Marshall, and in his time as a starter this season, he has been an important cog on the defense.
